I am 68 and have had my own contracting business all of my life.  When I retired I had a dispute with my business partner, that lead to a long court battle that I ultimately won.  My ex-business partner went bankrupt and I was unable to recover any of the moneys I was owed.  The tax office hit me with a tax bill of $121,980 with interest being added all the time.  I didn’t have much equity in my home and it was run down.  My only other asset was an old car.  I was facing bankruptcy myself.
